Winners of the 2007 Bar Awards

The 7th Annual Bar Awards held on Tuesday, September 18 at Sydney's Hilton Hotel saw the spread of accolades delivered across the entire east coast. Melbourne featured prominently with two of their bars taking out top awards for bar of the year and cocktail bar of the year.

Sydney wasn't to be left behind; the ever-popular Kings Cross district proved its worth with the burgeoning Bayswater Road precinct taking out a number of awards.

Brisbane also got a look in with new venue The Lark taking out two awards.

However, one of the most popular awards of the night (bar operator of the year - single venue) went to a surprise Adelaide hotelier, Andrew McDowell. It's the first time an award has headed back to the City of Churches in the history of the awards.

"This year saw more than 3000 nominations from across Australia, a clear sign the industry is thriving with creative professionals ever perfecting service and atmosphere for their guests", said David Spanton, founder of the Bar Awards and such industry publications as Australian Bartender magazine.

We couldn't agree more, David.
