Sunday night shenanigans
The Sunday night outing is a mixed bag. The risk of facing Monday feeling hung over with smudgy mascara, smoky hair and a general lack of brain power (plus enduring disapproving looks from your colleagues) can encourage a quiet night in with Grey's Anatomy a Sunday roast.
However there's something alluring about a naughty outing on a school night; perhaps it's the feeling of rebelling against 'the man' or maybe it's even the increased chances of picking up (it is a known fact that 79% of folks who don't pick up on Saturday evening will give the Sunday night schmooze fest a go). Alright so I made that statistic up, but I swear it's the case ... seriously.
Here are a few of my favourite haunts for Sunday night mischief.

Manly Wharf Hotel
Manly
|
A stalwart in Manly, this place attracts a mainly local crowd plus a few city slickers who are game enough to brave the Manly ferry after a few bevvies. The Manly Wharf Hotel has a great Sunday night vibe. It's friendly, fun and not too dangerous as the doors close before your school night can get too out of control.

The Cricketers Arms Hotel
Surry Hills
|
Grab a cheapie beer and throw yourself into the friendly mix of young local regulars who consider this place their round-the-corner hang out.

Hugos Lounge
Kings Cross
|
This luxe Kings Cross hotspot is popular with the designer-clad set, so be prepared to queue on weekends. Sundays are big, featuring a skinny $5 cover charge and Sneaky Sound System tunes. It's more like somewhere to be seen with a martini in hand rather than a place for casual beers with mates.

Cargo Bar
Darling Harbour
|
Liquid indulgence overflows here. Soak up the harbour views and sink a few beers. Good luck finding anyone over 30 here. There's just a lot of wild childs with no qualms about calling in sick on Monday morning.

The Oaks Hotel
Neutral Bay
|
Perfect for a Sunday afternoon steak and beer with your best mates, The Oaks offers casual surrounds in its all-encompassing beer garden. It's great if you don't want to have to shout over loud music to organise the next round.

Tilbury Hotel
Woolloomooloo
|
Comfy seating, a cosy atmosphere and a comprehensive drinks list mean that once you sit down here you may have trouble leaving. Crowds lounge in the lower courtyard and top balcony. Sunday night is unofficially gay night here and it make the Tilbury a great spot for inner-city eye candy.
