One is the debaucherous number


The disillusionment of singles in what is lovingly called the 'meat market' continually causes me shock and surprise. I get it. I understand that finding The One, or even The One-right-now is increasingly impossible in this modern world. Traditional institutions are tumbling down, your friends are, more often than not, the competition and personal connections are difficult to find.

But do not despair; those happy couples you eye with jealously in supermarket aisles and terrorise with popcorn pitched from a cinema's comforting shadows were once in the same boat you are. The reality is that we are all guilty of serial monogamy; the single-go-round goes round and round, and we all know what it is like to be desperate and dateless.

Instead of complaining, make the most of this period! There are many advantages to having a band-less finger (as any American sailor can tell you) and with the modern marvel of the internet on your side memorable nights are easy to find.
