Beat the Tuesday blues

In the dysfunctional family of the working week, Tuesday is the forgotten child. The rest of the days get all the good publicity - we know Black Friday and Manic Monday, but it is easy to forget that Tuesday is just as hard on the average worker as the start of the week. It's not yet bump-day, we are supposed to be cured of our Monday-itis, the Thursday night out is a distant memory, and Friday is the shining light at the end of a gauntlet of meetings, spreadsheets and databases of drudgery.

So what are we to do to cure these Tuesday blues? Sure, there are the old cheap thrills of the cinema - but sitting zombified in front of yet another screen, digesting another Hollywood sequel is not a way to dust those mental cobwebs. Rather, we prescribe the companionship of your fellow man. Grab a friend/colleague/new flame and with this suggested list of Tuesday activities in tow, the nine-to-five stresses will be gone faster than you can say 'you're buying the first round'!

1

Bavarian Bier Cafe O'Connell St
Sydney
There is nothing like comfort food to help get over the troubles of the working week, and with Tuesday's giant schnitzel challenges you can pig out on all the giant schnitzel you can eat. Finish it and you won't even have to pay for your schnapps.

2

Light Brigade Hotel
Woollahra
If the idea of a giant schnitzel is too much for you, the $10 Tuesday special at the Light Brigade may be a more reasonable option.

3

All Bar Nun
O'Connor
Pizza has always been the universal party food, and with All Bar Nun's popular Pizza & Pint night you can match your choice with Coopers beer for just $15.

4

Regatta Hotel
Toowong
Sick off spending your days filling your mind with useless facts and figures? Put some of that knowledge to good use at the Regatta's trivia night, 5.30pm-8.30pm.

5

Wickham Hotel
Fortitude Valley
For those looking to truly party, this popular Queensland gay and lesbian venue will definitely get you moving. Tuesdays feature an evening of interactive games hosted by Miss Synthetique from 9pm followed by DJ Mr Sparkles.

6

Worldsend Hotel
Adelaide
If live music is more your thing, Adelaide's longest running live jazz night will give you back your soul.

7

P.J. O'Brien's
Adelaide
They say laughter is the best medicine. Get your dose at PJ's regular Tuesday comedy night. You can even count on free entry before 7pm with the cost hitting a very reasonable $10 after that. Shows kick off at 8pm.

8

Clancy's Fish Pub (Fremantle)
Fremantle
An easy way to build bonds with your working mates is to start up a team for Lewis Quiz Night. Starting at 7.30pm, the $5 entry includes one free drink. Just make sure you invite those nerdy guys from I.T. They are always great at getting you out of those sticky technical questions.

9

Leederville Hotel
Leederville
Open mic nights can often be sad and depressing events, but the Australian Songwriters Association live and original night at the Leederville is anything but. Aimed at amateur singer-songwriters, a guitar is even provided. The night begins at 7pm with free entry.
