Australian Fashion Week Watering Holes

There is one thing that goes hand in hand with couture... and that is a fabulous cocktail. So to be sure that you're seen at all the right places during Australian Fashion Week, here is a trusty list of all the venues where fashionistas and modelisers are bound to be spotted after the catwalk closes. Please note that these are all within acceptable walking distance for those wearing 6-inch heels.

1

The Argyle
The Rocks
Set in one of Australia's oldest surviving commercial buildings, this venue features five bars and a cobblestone courtyard. Cocktails, cuisine and international DJs are the main drawcards.

2

Ember
The Rocks
This place leads onto Wildfire Restaurant, but you can come purely for cocktails and the Circular Quay views if you like. Check out the quirky hanging fish bowl lights with coloured bulbs.

3

Hemmesphere
Sydney
This elite cocktail spot beckons with Moroccan-inspired interiors, huge ottomans and low lounges that can be hard to escape from. Explore the vast vodka list and sample some late-night sashimi.

4

Establishment
Sydney
Boasting the longest bar in the city, this extravagant setting is a haunt for suits cutting loose. Winks and pick-up lines are a definite possibility.

5

Pony Lounge & Dining
The Rocks
Although it's best known as a restaurant, this buzzed-about spot also features a swish and petite bar right down the back. This addition to The Rocks district combines the area's old world charm with the up-to-the-minute cosmopolitan style that Sydney's fickle socialites demand.

6

Blu Bar on 36
The Rocks
Imagine a sophisticated after-hours haven, 36 floors above the street, with views that blow the mind and glam cocktails that could well blow the budget. This is life up at Blu Horizon Bar.

7

Cruise Bar
The Rocks
Holding prime position overlooking the harbour, this sleek hotspot is ideal for open-air drinking while watching Sydney's ferries cruise by. Improve your cocktail mixing skills by signing up for lessons.

8

The Basement
Circular Quay
The Basement caters to all types, from corporate diners to die-hard musos and serious barflies. After dark it becomes a spot for late-night cocktails and jazz crooning.
