Housed in the rustic Hackney Hotel, Zubar is more than your average sports bar, replete with a dance floor, beer garden, pool tables and paintings of elephants to boot.
Upon first impressions, the Hackney Hotel looks like an old saloon from a movie set, but lying behind the double-storeyed light-brown heritage facade is a thoroughly modern sports bar that goes by the name of 'Zubar' (a gentle nod to the feathers, furs and fins across the road at the Adelaide Zoo). Teeming with the theme are paintings of elephants, though if they leave you 'cold', warm yourself up by the fireplace. Enjoy some traditional pub grub, such as bangers and mash with onion gravy, with the extensive wine list and large range of imported and local beers. From the former category, tap beers include Kilkenny, Stella Artois and Lowenbrau Dunkel, while the latter include old faves like Tooheys Extra Dry, Tooheys Old and Pure Blonde. In need of something sweet? The Cidery should do the trick. Naturally, Zubar's happy hours provide a stellar opportunity to savour these beverages, and house cocktails, from 4pm to 7pm from Monday to Friday. Other attractions include a dance floor, a brand new beer garden, pool tables, and, being a sports bar and all, a bevy of sports screens and TAB along the bar.
