Taking it upon themselves to serve the clothed sector of Darwin's community, this cheery pub is the good kid on the Mitchell Street block.
Wisdom stands out along the Mitchell Street bar strip and it's not just because of its bright blue exterior. One of the newer bars in the heart of the city, it nonetheless has a distinctly mature feel to it. Unlike some shooter-style party bars in Darwin's CBD, there are no 'skimpies' and few scantily clad bronzed backpackers hanging out here, which provides a welcome change.
The Wisdom complex incorporates a bar, cafe and budget accommodation, and since opening in 2006 has become a modern and funky addition to the party hub that is Mitchell Street. Opening early and closing late, Wisdom offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, with plenty of standing room inside as the night rolls on.
The bar itself is extremely well stocked with 11 beers on tap and they also serve a whopping 15 wines by the glass - a rare find in a Darwin city bar. There's plenty to do during the week with food and drink specials, live music and happy hours.
Wisdom is a safe and fun venue and has further cemented its commitment to excellent customer service with manager Hilly Alcock taking out the Australian Hotels Association's 2007 prize for hotelier of the year.
