Adjacent to Martin Place, this stylish bar attracts corporate drinkers who are looking to unwind after a week at the office. Grab a schooner of Heineken or a fruity Martini.
This city bar was made for post-work drinks and bargain lunches. Afternoons see the suited crowd filling up the sleek and modern interior and spilling outside for cocktails and city views on the balcony. As the evening wears on, the bar shifts into night mode, with regular DJs playing a mix of uplifting house and cool funk and soul.
On Saturday nights, Verandah Bar plays host to the Funky Buddha nightclub. Guest performers and themed events are regular features, as are well-dressed party animals dancing to the latest hip hop and R'n'B hits. For those who prefer to keep their booty shaking to a minimum, the bar offers a variety of food and drink specials throughout the week: there's everything from bargain rump steaks on Mondays to cheap cocktails on Fridays.
Stella Artois, Heineken and Kronenbourg all flow on tap, along with Carlton Draught and good ol' VB. A small but well-chosen wine list keeps discerning drinkers satisfied with mostly Australian labels. The BBQ menu boasts slicker than standard pub eats such as the roasted chicken salad with French beans, Persian fetta, pine nuts and pumpkin. Don't worry though; parmagianas, schnitzels and pizza all still have a place on the menu.
Good looking people? Haha, yes this place has some - but it's a younger crowd. There's R&B music on a friday, but I found it virtually impossible to get the bar people to serve me.
