You'd better like your footy and motocross if you plan on stepping through the doors of this sports bar. Just don't order a flirtini and you should be okay.
Pool tables, Jack Daniels flags, racing-car games and plasma screens showing the latest sporting events comprise the decor at Trophy's Bar, the back bar area of the Beachfront Hotel. There's a pretty blokey feel about the place and it gets rowdy late in the evening when multiple pool games compete with jostling bodies trying to break the land-speed record on the virtual Daytona racetrack.
Unlike the front bar, Trophy's has no waterfront views. Instead, wood-panelled walls contrast with the bright green felt atop the multiple pool tables. The rich maroon carpet soaks up dark liquids and accidentally spilt beer without showing a stain.
Step through double doors into the main bar area and you'll find plenty of bar stools, which are usually piled with beer-drinking locals. A cluster of small round black tables and chairs are perched beneath the gaming screens and a distinct scent of testosterone permeates the air. Poles coated in industrial checker plate add to the masculine feel of this sports bar.
Behind the bar, stainless steel fridges stacked full of beer and colourful spirit-based drinks are highlighted by blue florescent lighting. For those who don't want to quaff a beer in typical blokey style, there are litres of spirits hanging above the bar, waiting to be mixed with soft drink and gulped down.
