Live music surprise
Over from Melbourne for a few days and chanced on this pub in Whitmore Square on Wednesday night. It had a 5 piece band playing what they call swamp stomp music, with slide guitar, dobro, harmonica...if you like Rye Cooder and JJ Cale kinda thing, these guys are on your money. The pub itself has just been done up, so it's pretty comfortable. Beers are $5 a pint and spirits $6.50 which I reckon is good value. We didnt eat but they have cheap meals too that looked huge as they went past us on their way to tables. Didnt go for the linen clothes in there though. Doesnt seem to fit with the feel and music. Overall, we'll be back!
