Cool sugar-white walls and people-watching prospects sum up this St Kilda bar which has been around for years. Find a perching spot and order up a French martini.
Open and airy, this St Kilda drink spot brings a sense of style to the bustle of Fitzroy Street. As the name suggests, it's predominately white and offset with a few flashy touches of red. Look around and you'll find huge windows, decorative ceilings and polished floorboards.
Set above street level, The White Bar is ideal for keeping an eye on all the goings-on below. However people-watching is obviously so much better when undertaken with a drink in hand. Cocktails take pride of place here, so order up a few French martinis (Chambord, vodka and pineapple juice). Not attempting to compete with 'the' wine bar nearby, this venue offers a modest wine list, but nearly all drops are available by the glass.
On weekends, The White Bar shifts up a gear. Friday attracts after-work drinkers who come for half-price beer, wine, spirits and cocktails between 5pm and 9pm. Complimentary finger food will help to keep you level-headed, but if that doesn't work you can try dancing it off.
The White Bar also offers a free Sunday session once every month, which features rotating DJs playing house, electro and progressive tunes.
