What is it about old post offices that makes them such good sites for a second life as a drinking den?
Beyond its grey gothic exterior, this unique drinking spot possesses a warm, humming atmosphere and a setting layered with deep red furnishings, creaky floorboards and comfy low chairs. As the sun slinks down at the end of the day so to do the lights in this former post office space, and the music takes on a funkier tune. Around this time post-workers will begin to trickle in for dinner, drinks and general lounging.
You'll find a couple of beers on tap, but for anything else you'll have to head straight for the bottle. The bar is well-equipped with chips and ciggies to satisfy such cravings, and the staff will be only too happy to have a chat with you while you enjoy a quiet one or wait for your friends to arrive. If it's cold out, plonk yourself down on a warm, velvet couch or - if the sun's in full swing - head straight for the breezy beer garden. Over the brick wall you'll hear the hum of the traffic on St Georges Road - unless the kitchen is laden with orders, which is around the time the music gets turned up.
