Kitsch decor and dazzling views create a popular drinking spot on the Swan River.
Panels of mirrors, black walls and ceilings, pink and red neon lighting, and chrome bar stools, surprisingly come together to create a sleekly chic look. Just like everything else at this premier riverside haunt, it's tastefully done. By day, the bar's dark interior optimises the impact of the stunning river views. In the evening, the subdued red lamplight doesn't upstage the reflections of the city in the Swan River's water below. Barside, the choice is even more expansive than the vista out front. There's a classic cocktails list, not to mention many originals hidden up the bartenders' sleeves; a good range of boutique beers, as well as international labels and Australian draught beers; premium spirits, including Chivas Regal and an 18-year-old Macallan; not to mention a fine range of Australasian whites, reds and sparkling wines and an enviable reserve cellar of shiraz, cabernet and blends. You will need something to eat to accompany your drink, though. If you're partial to a platter of freshly shucked oysters, you can order over 10 different varieties from the bar, though no one will frown on you for indulging in a traditional bowl of chips or plumping for the pizza herb bread.
