Get prepared for quite a night out. With more than five bars and opulence in spades, The Met delivers.
Where to start with The Met? With three levels, five bars and more imperial splendour than the Taj Mahal, the latest addition to The Valley's nightclub scene is on a very grand scale indeed.
Part oriental opulence, part market-bazaar madness, each room in the 2300-square-metre space takes on a different Asiatic tone. The idea is that - at least 'till 5am on Sunday - you'll never need to leave.
For day beds amid the disco balls, head to Coco; for cocktails and conversation, Bamboo is a good bet; and serious DJ-ophiles may never make it out of the dance hall. The Dragon Bar is one of the cooler places in town to quench a dance-earned thirst - it's built in the theme of a Chinese medicine man's emporium, but the potions in its back bar are of the 42 Below kind.
For those who just like to watch, the elevated Spybar - all gilded mosaic and backlights - is a sexy spot to scan the dance floor action below. From Sneaky Sound System to Boy George, The Met hosts some prominent acts, and with eight separate areas for private hire, your Brisbane birthday party just got a lot more glamorous.
