Taste beers from Australia and beyond at this 20-tap toting Darlinghurst local.
In a quest to create the perfect local for downtown Darlinghurst, the owners of this pub have included 20 taps, all flowing with brews from smaller, mostly Australian, breweries.
The available beers - which in the past have included Wicked Elf, Mountain Goat and Jamieson - will be rotated regularly. If punters grow fond of a particular blend, it may make the cut as a stayer at the bar; though if you've always been a "VB only" kind of drinker, the Local Taphouse may well prove to be a challenge, albeit a tasty one.
The south-of-the-border sister establishment in St Kilda was once an antique store and this style has carried through to the Sydney pub, creating a delightfully ramshackle decor. The walls are dark but the room is kept sparkling with large mirrors and hanging light bulbs enclosed in antique-looking birdcages.
As well as the carefully selected beer menu, there's also food on offer such as mussels provencale and saganaki with fresh lemon. And for those who like nothing more than a saucy pizza with their brew, there are a few 10-inch options as well.
Designed to attract anyone whoever comes its way, the Local Taphouse is sure to be a favourite with the eclectic population of Darlinghurst.
