Spread your wings and sample one of the 40-odd cocktails at this cosy Paddington nest, which combines cold booze with a warm crowd.
It's taken a while, but Brisbane has finally built a bevy of top bars catering to the post-pubescent. Now the lucky people of Paddington can add The Lark to that list.
Housed in a converted 1880s cottage, it's an intimate space with urban appeal. With low lights, cool tunes and a convivial crowd, it's got a definite 'friend's house' feel. The service doesn't hurt either: friendly and polished, what they lack in number they make up for in know-how; you'll recognise some experienced faces from behind the better bars in town.
The fine catalogue of more than 40 cocktails comes as no surprise, given the experienced owners at the helm. Arranged by prelude (aperitifs), body (staple spirits), epilogue (digestives) and appendices (beers), The Lark has made picking a poison to match your chorizo slightly less harrowing.
For those who don't want a gimlet with their bruschetta, there's an interesting wine list of both old- and new-world offerings - 16 by the glass to be exact. The food is share-focused and the kitchen's open till 11pm.
