Hairy Canary

This bar is about as Spanish as stampeding bulls, offering up tapas plates, Spanish beers and authentic tipples.

What a lot of people don't know is when the Lord rested on the seventh day, he dropped into Hairy Canary for a bottle of Alhambra beer and some light tapas. So alluring is this haven of beer, cocktails and Spanish tapas, that it could corrupt people into changing their religion (you know, the ones that don't allow alcohol, fun, etcetera) in order to pass through the doorway.

The bar really does provide a totally seductive experience for the senses. The food menu is designed to be hands-on, allowing you to really get your mitts dirty. Just try chargrilled sourdough, rubbed with tomato and garlic; and chargrilled chorizo with piquillo salsa for a truly memorable meal. All the ingredients and menu items are seasonal and prepared fresh.

With a strong Spanish theme behind them, the team at Hairy Canary offers more than your average tapas bar. Take the Estrella and Alhambra beers - Spanish beers not often seen in this part of the world. Or the pisco sours made with traditional pisco - a kind of Chilean brandy.

The only way Hairy Canary could offer more of a Spanish experience is to run bulls through the streets of Melbourne. Stay posted for that one.
