Take a step back in time to the days of gangsters and molls in this art deco inspired pub.
Originally built in the late 1800s, this Brisbane mainstay has gone through many incarnations over the years, attracting everyone from dock workers to backpackers.
A recent renovation has seen the hotel restored to its former 1920s glory, with an art deco theme running throughout the venue. Crystal chandeliers hang from decorative ceilings and the space is dotted with chaise lounges and ornate fittings. The venue even gives a nod to some of the bygone era's characters. Just look to its Flapper Lounge or the function room called the Joe DiMaggio.
A high-speed lift will take you to the rooftop garden, which offers 360-degree views of the Brisbane skyline and river. And there's no need to tear yourself away from the city lights to get a bite to eat. The rooftop has its own kitchen, offering up Asian-inspired meals and cook-your-own meats for the barbecue.
Downstairs, the Campari Room offers an entirely different dining experience, with contemporary Italian cuisine dominating the menu. Try the truffled gnocchi with chestnuts, or the shellfish in a saffron broth.
If it's just a drink you're after, the main bar is the place to settle down. This area opens out onto a beer garden where you can take full advantage of the Queensland weather.
