The old Bourbon and Beefsteak is looking better than ever, with a glammed-up diner that's reminiscent of '50s LA. The mood is casual by day and clubby after dark.
Positioned right on the crazy main strip of neon-lit Kings Cross, this place is a revamped icon with an $8 million makeover.
The main area is filled with tall bar tables, couches, dinner tables and a few cosy booths. The floor is carpeted and while this isn't the best option for a bar, the coordination of the print with the large woven lamp shades is rather impressive.
With a full bistro menu put together by resident chef Ashley O'Sullivan and indoor and alfresco dining available, the Bourbon attracts a mix of budget and not-so-budget patrons. Young men in suits line the couches sipping drinks and other guys in t-shirts dig into evening meals. The female guests also vary from casual backpackers with tired outfits and Sydney Barbie dolls wearing designer jeans and sky-high heels.
Expect cocktails, an Australian wine list and a few French bubbly options.
International and local DJs spin a range of house, electro and tech tunes and the place gets especially pumping on weekends.
