Stella on tap for Dad and slippery dips for the kids keeps everyone happy at this North Shore watering hole.
Focused on maintaining a family-friendly atmosphere, this modern hotel incorporates features that welcome both adults and children alike. Following a $10 million redevelopment in early 2009, the pub that was once known as the President Hotel has been transformed into the Belrose Hotel.
Family owned, the venue includes the largest "soft-play" playground for kids in any hotel in Australia. There's also a handy parents room which, as any parent who's been left holding the baby will know, is an all-too-often overlooked convenience.
While the kids are sliding down slippery dips and burying themselves in ball pits, Mum and Dad can relax in the spacious open-plan bar area with anything from a cocktail to a coffee. The taps flow with local and international beers aplenty including Stella Artois, Guinness and James Squire. There's also a concise selection of wine available by the glass.
Once the kids have worked up an appetite in the play area, they can select pasta, chicken nuggets or even a pizza from the children's menu. More mature palates will appreciate the wide range of better-than-average bistro bites such as a honey-roasted pumpkin salad or the Tuscan marinated beef medallions.
