Art and kitsch collide here and so do tropical themes and pinball machines. Come on the right night and you can score cheap tacos or some bingo action.
This corner joint appeals to the eccentric at heart and anyone who wants to get in touch with their inner child. After dark, the snug bar buzzes with the chatter of faithful regulars and curious blow-ins. Some battle it out over a game of Yahtzee or Connect Four, while others are just content to kick back and sip booze.
Look around and you'll see abstract art on the walls and multicoloured character figurines, such as Pee-wee Herman and Beatlejuice, who watch visitors from their wall-mounted positions on bamboo displays. Random retro and alternative tunes flow through the background.
Wander downstairs into the parallel universe of the Tiki Bar, where bamboo walls create an island theme and die-hard arcade junkies concentrate over squeaking pinball machines. Check out the monthly display of collectable pieces - the illuminated glass display unit showcases everything from Superman paraphernalia to a Pez dispenser collection. There are also comfy couches down here and a shrine area decked out with a waterfall feature and tribal-style masks.
The bar serves up imported beers, wine, bubbly and cocktails. Try some Backseat Lovin' (vodka, peach schnapps, cranberry juice, pineapple juice, sugar syrup and chunky lime).
Come on Tuesdays for cheap tacos, Coronas, sangria and tequila from 6pm, or visit on the second Wednesday of each month to catch some bingo action.
