Head here if you like your bevvies extra punchy. Tequila is the specialty, with around 60 varieties on the menu.
Set smack bang in the heart of Adelaide's West End, this cosy night spot caters to dedicated tequila junkies, with around 60 types of the potent spirit served within a breezy Santa Fe setting.
Tequila Rea has a traditional Mexican feel, with green cacti, and ochre-coloured walls punctuated by brightly coloured paintings. Mood lighting coats the bar with a warm glow, reminiscent of a fiery South American sunset. Meanwhile, scattered lounges provide a cosy spot for bar-goers to chill-out and catch up with amigos.
While Tequila Rea showcases a variety of imported and boutique beers, the main focus is firmly fixed on the joys of tequila. There is a good range of tequila-based cocktails available, including innovative takes on the classic margarita. Be warned though: a couple of these sozzle-worthy concoctions down the guzzler and you will be cactus! For something extra punchy try the Yopago: it muddles lime, mint and sugar with vanilla infused tequila and Paraiso lychee liquor.
Unlike the themed decor, the music is far from traditional here. Instead, local DJs spin popular dance hits to keep the vibe pumping and lively all night.
With a buzz that kicks on well into the wee hours, Tequila Rea often floods with all types of thirsty senors and senoritas, looking for a stiff drink after all the surrounding bars have called it a night.
