Temperance Hotel

Despite a moniker meaning abstinence from alcoholic consumption - or moderation at the very least - this hotel keeps an excellent array of beverages. The cocktail menu includes options such as the Dr Leewyn and the Temperamental Jezebel.

Sunday arvo
Well I have to say I have had the best sunday experience in a long time. Not sure what happened the night nedmonds was there but the 'le soul' sunday sessions at temperance is awesome. The drinks are fantastic, tapas, pizzas and light food are delicious. I went with a group of 12 for lunch and a few quiet drinks and left at 12am. It was amazing. Couple of friends had the roast and said it was amazing. The music and entertainment made the night. A 3 piece jazz band, DJ and sax player. the singer and sax player played whilst standing on the bar later in the evening. It was such a great night. I run a PR company and will be telling all the people I know to go there.

Sunday Session
Disappointing! Temperance Hotel is my local & emailed me a "Sunday Session" special offering $20 cocktail jugs & $10 burgers. I went, the first Sunday after receiving the email. The 1st barmaid I asked about the burger disappeared to ask and wasn't seen again for over 1/2 hour. The 2nd barman checked, came back & said they didn't offer it (it's $18.50). A 3rd barman told us we had to move soon as our table was reserved in 1/2 hr (we'd checked where to sit with #1) but he'd find us a seat. Then #4 told us we had 5 minutes to move, regardless of whether #3 found a seat. Upstairs, I was unimpressed to discover Temperance Hotel advertising $10 "Sunday Session" burgers in every cubicle! The roast was great, the service from Joel (#2) outstanding, and the cocktails weren't bad. Besides #2 though, it's the worst service I've received in Melbourne since moving here 2 years ago. The place is 2 minutes' walk from home but I won't be back. Definitely telling my friends not to go!
