This alley-way gem attracts nine-to-fivers and wine lovers from all walks of life. Come on a wine-tasting night if you want a vino experience with extra depth.
Set down an inconspicuous city lane way at the back of the Establishment Hotel, this place is a pocket-sized schmoozing ground frequented by CBD suits and miscellaneous wine buffs.
Step inside now and you'll discover industrial-style interiors that are shiny enough to slide off. But they won't be around for too much longer. The managers at Tank Stream Bar have plans to 'cosy' the place up over the next few months, revamping the space with new rugs, wicker seating and soft touches.
Sommelier Franck Moreau is the man behind the wine list. It features more than 30 drops which have been sourced from vineyards in Australia, New Zealand, Italy, France and Spain.
Wine-tasting nights (featuring both red and white drops concurrently) are scheduled to commence in April '07 and are expected to be held on every second Tuesday. These events will give vino lovers the opportunity to pop in, meet winemakers and partake in some swirling and sipping.
Friday nights are a mixed affair, so expect a blend of nine-to-five regulars, plus early-bird clubbers sinking a few warm-up drinks while they wait for the adjoining Tank nightclub to open up and thump all night. But don't both coming here on Saturday or Sunday. Tank Stream Bar is definitely only a weekday venue. It's usually firmly closed to the public on weekends and only opens up for private functions.
