Stirling Hotel - Review
After undergoing a facelift and complete revamp the Stirling Hotel enjoyed a burst of popularity. Every Friday night of summer hoards of bright young things would spill out of the bar and over the verandah and outside seating area.

On nights of a special event -The annual Stirling Pageant, Tour Down Under Street Party, or the day uni offers came out for example, they would have to fence off the front carpark to make room for the extra patrons coming to enjoy a bev or two to celebrate. Even better if you are a local, as you're bound to know at least half the people there, so there's always someone to talk to.

On the approach of winter and with the start of uni and exhaustion not only of the young ones' funds over the holiday period but I think exhaustion of their enthusiasm for the venue, Friday night numbers dropped drastically and "The Stirl" is no longer the place where everyone is guaranteed to be. Perhaps its popularity will rise again later in the year with the temperatures.

Nonetheless, The Stirling is still a great local pub with an edge. The bistro serves top quality food at an affordable price and though the decor is pretty swish with plasma screens and colourful lighting, the service has that friendly local vibe. The fine dining restaurant is the perfect option for a classy meal, excellent food though expect to pay the prices to go with it.

Drinks can be a little pricey, a cocktail will set you back about $15 but your average drinks are average price, there's some decent wines available for $4 up and in the happy hours prices are cut and Thursday nights provide $6 Cosmopolitans.

It can get very busy and you could encounter a wait for food or drinks however this is rare and the young waiting and kitchen staff do their best which is mainly more than good enough.

Of special mention should be the outside eating area, a glorious place to sit and enjoy a few drinks or a meal in the fresh warm hills air under the fairy lights. Perfect night at the Stirl - in summer, salt and pepper squid under the verandah followed by a night of drinking with
