According to Roman mythology, Sol is the God of sun, and this lounge bar has embraced the theme wholeheartedly.
Perched on the beachfront at Glenelg, Sol Bar boasts sensational views of the sun, sand and surf. Inside, sol mosaics pattern the walls, floor and bar in colours of blazing red and burnt orange.
However, it's when the sun goes down that Sol really comes alive, with DJs mixing house, R&B and funk for clubbers who take over the dance floor. Friday nights offer live jazz, which is absorbed by listeners occupying the couches of the chillout lounge.
Happy hour (or two) runs from 8-10pm every night. There are five beers on tap, as well as a reasonable selection of premium bottled ales and cocktails, so there's no shortage of bevvies to choose from.
If a refreshing cocktail is what you're after, try the Touche: it mixes strawberry liqeuer with Cointreau, Midori, fresh strawberries, pineapple juice and a dash of strawberry syrup topping.
There's also a selection of easy bar snacks available, including oysters, spring rolls and wedges.
