Set within the Cremorne Hotel, this venue is home to DJ sounds and cocktail creations such as the Salty Dog (vodka shaken with maraschino cherries and ruby red grapefruit juice).
North Shore clubbers have one less reason to head over the bridge on the weekend with the arrival of SoBar at the Cremorne Hotel. The space once fondly referred to as 'the megahole' has been given a $2-million face-lift, overseen by local design firm SJB Interiors. The place has now emerged as a plush drinking den that can rival just about anything you'll find in the CBD, complete with a glamour crowd to match.
In the club's lounge room the mood is modern retro; moulded white Eames chairs, fuchsia booths and Neoz table lamps conjure up visions of the late '60s. An illuminated dance floor carries on the fuchsia theme, paired with lavender leather padded walls.
The massive main bar is decked out with black granite and strawberry-pink marble. It serves up cocktail classics like caipiroskas and such house creations as the Salty Dog (vodka shaken up with maraschino cherries and ruby red grapefruit, served in a salt-rimmed martini glass).
Upstairs you'll find weeping willow graphics on a feature wall, banquette seating and a blue granite bar. The club's rotating roster of house DJs includes John Glover, Sam I Am and Jeff Drake, with guests such as the always eclectic Bang Gang DJs also stopping by regularly.
