This Noosa gem is home to a glass-walled basement cellar, over 500 wines and regular tasting nights. Order an $11,000 vino, if you dare.
Tucked away and holding a low profile, cosy little Rumba Wine Bar draws a loyal following. The wines here are extensive and impressive, with prices starting from $6 per glass, and climbing all the way up to a jaw-dropping $11,000 per bottle. Come early and you can grab one of the few comfy lounges and peer through the glass wall into the adjoining climate-controlled wine cellar, which is home to more than 500 different vinos. It is this amazing collection that makes this drinking spot one of Queensland's finest wine bar destinations. Thursday is the most popular night. It sees the Noosa bar set pack in for great-value wine tastings that feature different labels each week. Cheese platters, tapas, lamb tarts and sashimi are served up, along with smooth, moody music. The supper club vibe is definitely sophisticated enough to compete with any capital city bar. Old and new decor blends seamlessly together, with timber walls, a marble bar, glass walls and Persian rugs. If you somehow tire of the wine-tasting adventures on offer, the bar also has a seriously good collection of aperitifs, boutique beers, spirits and cocktails to tempt you.
