This little music venue boasts a packed schedule of bands and DJs. Music fans come here to sink a few beers while checking out the next big thing.
Ric's Bar is a slightly grungy little Brunswick Street venue that barely ever sleeps. It's all about the music here - to the point of obsession. Its gigs schedule is jam-packed with strumming bands and DJs on the decks. The line-up is a complete mixed bag, including everyone from chilled acoustic soloists to slightly unhinged European garage bands and head-bobbing DJs. This is where music fiends go to hear the next big thing before everyone else, as relative unknowns slink nervously up to the stage before more established acts command attention.
To lubricate the music fans, there are a few classic cocktails available alongside the usual beers and house spirits. But sticking to bottled beer (there are no beer taps) is advisable; there's much less chance of spilling your drink if you decide to mosh.
Ric's shares a space with Fatboy's Cafe. The two venues are commonly known by the all-encompassing moniker of Fatrics. Ric's customers can tuck into stomach-lining snacks from the Fatboy's kitchen until 1am on most nights, and all night on Fridays and Saturdays. Brave souls can even return to the scene of the previous night's crime for a hangover-curing breakfast.
