Get adventurous and broaden your horizons by enrolling in a beer appreciation class here. Who would have thought that beer could be so highbrow?
Homer Simpson once compared a beer to a woman, and maybe he wasn't too far off the mark. After all, each one has its own unique characteristics. Take the Honey Ale for example; it's pale, light bodied, delicate, musky and slightly bitter. Then there's the American India Pale Ale which is strong, full bodied and filled with floral aromas. And who can forget the Opera Bar Blonde, which is spicy, sweet and a little tarty? These are just three of the ales created and served at Redoak - and if you ask the brewers here, they'll tell you that beer is definitely worthy of either hot lust or long-term devotion. Take your pick.
Set in the CBD, Redoak is more than just a pub. It's a fancy-pants brewery which is known for producing some award-winning beers. Here you can sip on a Belgium Chocolate Stout, an Oatmeal Stout, a Blackberry Hefeweizen or a Holly Porter (think roasted mocha flavours and a creamy finish).
This place suits beer fiends and aspiring connoisseurs. Beer appreciation classes are held regularly and cover brewing processes and the skill of identifying different ale styles. These classes are also accompanied by a degustation-style menu.
So there you have it. Redoak is definitely one for serious beer nuts. If you just want a VB and a packet of salt and vinegar chips, maybe you'd better go elsewhere.
