It may sit right in the middle of wine country, but this place is still completely dedicated to beer. It serves up microbrewery tours, tennis and karaoke.
The beehive-shaped kilns at the front make Potters Hotel & Brewery easy enough to spot. This microbrewery borders onto popular wineries and it also happens to be the place where St Arnou beer was born. These days, the brewery produces and serves its own Hunter Beer Company brew, which can be downed in the main bar or alternatively in the cosier Potteries Lounge. You can order yourself a glass of German-style Kolsch ale or tap into one of the seasonal brews, which may be a blonde, a dark German lager or a Belgian-style wheat beer.
If you can't drive home, no need to worry. There are 167 rooms available to stay in, which are all located at the rear of the property. Aside from the accommodation, there's also a few tennis courts, which are ideal for a hit and a giggle after a few beers. Alternatively, you can side with good sense and assist your sobriety by devouring some comfort food in the bistro. Expect dishes such as lamb shanks, pizza and salad.
The no-frills scene attracts both city wine buffs on weekend trips and and no-nonsense locals who just want to refuel and kick back. The scene here get rowdy on certain nights, especially if a karaoke session is in full swing.
