Although it's best known as a restaurant, this buzzed-about spot also features a swish and petite bar right down the back.
This addition to The Rocks district combines the area's olde worlde charm with the up-to-the-minute cosmopolitan style that Sydney's fickle socialites demand.
The space has the stamp of designer Michael McCann all over it, with industrial stainless steel, exposed beams and raw brick contrasting with luxuriously glossy timber and piebald prints.
The shiny bar is right down the back and although it's tiny and snug, it's also completely capable of serving up French martinis, cosmopolitans and the like.
The restaurant features a long deck, dominated by a 12-metre communal table, from which diners can look out over picturesque Kendall Lane or back towards the wide open kitchen.
Head chef Damien Heads and his team of hard-working culinary craftsmen are completely exposed as they whip up dishes from the series of woodfired delicacies promised by the menu. Coming off the grill are such dishes as coriander and fennel-spiced snapper with preserved lemon couscous; seared calves liver; or a one-kilo beef rib for two. Alternatively, there is an extensive selection of small dishes available throughout the day, from crispy whitebait to cured salmon with fennel and citrus.
Nice buzz as you walk in.The small plates are exceptional. Great wine list and fantastic cocktails. Service was good but did get a bit scatty at times. All in all, I would definitely suggest going there.

A slice of Melbourne in Sydney..
I've recommended this to so many people, with glowing comments from all. Finally a little bit of Melbourne chic, who needs Harbour views when you've got design and decoration like this? The Michael McCann designed new-kid-on-the-Rocks-block is way too cool for school but without the Sydney attitude. The tapas style food too is a winner here.
