CBD dwellers, office workers and tourists keep this bar buzzing during the day. However when night falls it becomes much clubbier.
A bar by day and a club by night, Pontoon has a relaxed sense of Australian style. Like many places that look out over Darling Harbour, this venue is popular with city locals, office workers and tourist packs who pour in during the day and on midweek evenings.
As far as essential bar features go, Pontoon ticks most of the boxes. There are couches, pool tables, bar stools, plasma screens, food, coffee and, most importantly, lots of alcoholic beverages.
The wine list focuses on Aussie and Kiwi drops, while the cocktail list includes creations such as the Russian Rose (vodka, triple sec, pink grapefruit juice and lime) and the classic Singapore Sling (gin, cherry liqueur, pineapple, lemon, grenadine and sugar syrup).
The open barbecue serves a variety of steak and chicken sandwiches that will help you fuel up, especially if you're planning to hit the dance floor later on.
Friday nights feature residents playing R&B, uplifting house and sneaky breaks from 9pm while Saturdays see a mix of R&B, hip hop and sexy house. On Sundays, you can catch some live acoustic sets.
