This bar has a social conscience and world music to keep the people dancing into the night.
High on the hill overlooking the city is this hidden little gem, a cultural melting pot for Northcote's artists, poets and politically passionate residents. Drinking alongside these colourful guests are local neighbours looking for a bar that's about fostering a sense of community.
Open Studio prides itself on its music and its crepes. There is different music on every night (except Mondays when the bar is closed), adding an Eastern European/gypsy leaning to the atmosphere. There are savoury and sweet crepes to delight your taste buds, and a simple selection of beer, wine and spirits to quench your thirst should some spirited gypsy dancing take your fancy.
Step out the back into the delightful courtyard and drink in the night sky next to the almond tree and an open fire. Don't miss the Argentinean barbecue on Sundays and be sure to bring an appetite - vegetarians are not forgotten. Open Studio also hosts fund raisers for interesting social causes, and anyone who is interested can contact the bar to apply.
