This old fave has become even more popular since its revamp. There's something for everyone, from comedy and jazz nights to plasma screens beaming live sports.
An established favourite among Shire and St George residents, the weekend crowds have only increased after the extensive refurbishment of this stalwart local in 2006.
The traditional pub frontage remains, but out back you'll now find three contemporary drinking areas - a courtyard with a classic beer garden fit-out; a chrome-and-white-sail upper deck; and a lounge bar. The hotel's reclaimed accommodation quarters upstairs wouldn't look out of place in the heart of the city, with an orange backlit bar, mood lighting and outdoor balcony overlooking a local park.
On Friday and Saturday nights you'll find the place rammed with hundreds of under-25s from the surrounding suburbs, while on weeknights locals mosey in for comedy, trivia and poker playoffs. Jazz afternoons are a highlight, with regulars enjoying weekly performances from a roster of local musos on Sunday afternoons.
Pick up a pizza or order a steak from the bistro and enjoy the vibe in one Sydney's most hospitable beer gardens. Everyone's catered for here, from plasma-screen-craving sports lovers to pool players to those looking for a chit-chat and catch-up with friends.
