The owners of the ground breaking Horse bazaar are starting their own bar genre - the art bar, and have added this northern sister bar to the stable.
Rumour has it that Northcote has the largest number of artists and art grants in Melbourne, which is the prime reason behind North Bazaar springing into life on High Street.
North Bazaar caters to its artistic patrons by morphing and mutating on the whim of its owners; transforming at will into a nightclub with pumping dance floor, or a band venue, traditional art space, or digital art festival venue. The possibilities are endless.
The focus here is art as entertainment rather than for sale. Cutting-edge digital art is projected into different spaces through the bar, providing a unique and stimulating environment to have a tipple.
Take the opportunity to sample North Bazaar's excellent gin collection, including the delicious Hendrick's gin. Then move on to a Terra Firm, the house speciality, made with vanilla vodka and apple liqueur. If you are thirsty for more, try the Fernet Branca, an Italian aperitif drunk by Norwegians apparently. Very cosmopolitan.
There is a fine selection of Australian wines by the glass, and Coopers on tap. Check the website for details on what's on each week, as this dynamic venue has something new on offer regularly and randomly.
