Decked out like a log cabin, this chic bar is a sipping and supper haven for Melbourne's chic working clique, with a designer drinks menu and decor to match.
Right now Noosh is a bit of a 'best kept secret' bar, but with a chill-out vibe like this it won't be long before the rest of the city catches on. Decked out like a modern log cabin - complete with a wall of chopped fire wood, a mounted moose head guarding the top shelf spirits and a series of hanging 'reindeer antler' lamps - it actually has a light airy feel that oozes chic. Lounge sounds serenade the two separate bars - the main bar with kerbside seating on La Trobe Street and the more secluded side room hidden behind woven reed screens (with an adjoining courtyard).
Not surprisingly Noosh has a North American ambience, but the drinks menu is guaranteed to please more than lumberjacks. A clued-in clientele of hip city workers heads here to take advantage of the welcome happy hours on Thursday and Friday nights, or to simply settle in for a glass of local house wine. The designer cocktail menu features recipes such as the signature Babbarga (gin, fresh pear juice, coriander and apple liqueur) for those seeking a sweet conclusion to the working week. Hops fanatics be warned - there is no beer on tap here; but around 15 bottled varieties, ranging from quality local to imported boutique brews, pack the fridges.
