Your sandy feet will be right at home in this lazy leafy tropical-themed island bar.
Situated right on the beach this comfy local watering hole has adopted a tropical resort theme. You can hide your sandy feet away in a cute little corner of the 'island bar', which is decorated with a grass roof and umbrellas. All the usual beers are on tap and there's a good list of exotic cocktails to enhance the stress-free island resort feeling.
Head into the large public bar to hang out with the locals and drink in the ocean views and relaxed beachy vibe. In this laidback space the walls are adorned with local artefacts, with a notable absence of the often tasteless refurbishments common to many other pubs. The locals are as much a part of the furniture as the trimmings - attesting to the welcoming nature and enduring popularity of the space.
On Friday and Saturday nights, the atmosphere picks up with live music. If you're in town on a quieter night, you can best enjoy yourself by chilling in a corner with a selection of fresh seafood from the bistro - and, of course, a tropical cocktail.
A Canadian in Kirra gives a thumbs up to the Kirra Beach Hotel
Both my wife and I frequent this venue on a weekly basis. We have been doing this for the past 2 years. It has come under new ownership, and by all appearances the new owner appears to be on the right track in his/her efforts to restore the historic venue.
The bistro is a great place to get together with friends for a few drinks. The view from the bistro is fantastic. From where we sit on the patio we see what is considered to be one of the best surfing spots on the planet. Both my wife and I recommend the Kirra Beach Hotel as one of the go to places on the Gold Coast. Canadians will love it.
