Go direct from your hotel room to a cocktail. Stick around a bit longer in alfresco-style comfort or stroll on into town.
Having shed the 'Kilo' from its name, along with its formal image, this East Perth bar and eatery now has a much more casual ambience. Owned and operated by Perth's Comfort Hotel, the renamed 'K on Hay' serves up beverages, light cafe-style lunches and evening meals in an informal setting.
Previously known for their Belgian beers, K on Hay Cafe and Bar has ditched the suds in favour of a cocktail menu comprised of several much-loved classics. It also offers a few fruity non-alcoholic varieties. In the summer months, the front of the bar opens up onto a shady alfresco space overlooking Hay Street, where you can perch on a bar stool and while away a balmy afternoon.
While the tone of the cafe has changed, K on Hay has kept its funky decor and walled alfresco area - which fronts onto the street - only adding a few classy light fittings. Whether or not you're a patron of the adjoining hotel, you're welcome to kickback in this laidback setting before a short stroll to some other CBD drinking spots.
Stayed the night in its adjoining hotel and was disappointed that bar closed at 9.30pm having seen on a web site that it was open until 12! Thought barman was not very friendly although the dark haired girl behind bar was lovely.
