Inspired by the Buddha Bar in Paris, this slick nightspot has stunning river views. Sip on an oriental Buddha Bliss cocktail, and give the barside Buddha statue a wink.
For an exotic taste of the Far East, Jade Buddha doesn't disappoint. Sitting, or perhaps meditating on Eagle Street Pier, it overlooks the Brisbane River. It offers up water views and oriental surroundings that beg to be explored. The venue's layout, design and decoration all follow ancient Feng Shui principles and advice. Inside, it's filled with stunning interior pieces, sourced from all over Asia. Wander through and discover the Jade Buddha Lounge on the ground floor, which operates as both a bar and restaurant. Order up a signature Buddha Bliss cocktail, mixed together with Grand Marnier, yellow Chartreuse, ginger, mint, lime and sweet, cloudy apple juice. The menu serves Pan Asian offerings, with plenty of seafood, noodles and sushi. The Jade Lounge features water views, stained bamboo ceilings, and even a cross-legged golden Buddha statue, offering guests a three-fingered salute. Venture upstairs and you'll discover the Shadow Lounge - a sophisticated cocktail bar that attracts the late night crowds. There's a dome-shaped ceiling and even more views of the river and Storey Bridge. Parties are also catered for in the separate Bamboo Room space, which operates as a function area, with private access.
