Liquid indulgences flow at this polished Bondi bar. Grab something on the rocks and let yourself get washed away by the iconic ocean views.
Everything is a glassy here: The drinks; the waves; the streak-free Windexed panorama which stretches across Bondi Beach.
"What a view," I say to my friend Natalie.
"Mm-hmm," she agrees, nodding vigorously. But she's not looking at the ocean. Instead, she's checking out a buffed swimmer as he slices his way through lane three of Bondi Baths below.
"You've got to admit it," she says wistfully, "there's something very attractive about a man who pays a huge membership fee to use a pool filled with water from the free beach that's just a few metres away".
She's half-joking, but I know what she means - there is a certain sexiness to the idea. And there's a definite sexiness to this venue.
Sitting on the southern cliff, this bar embraces the seascape it clings to: watery views and curved design lines flow into each other and, after a few drinks, the suspended wicker pod chairs almost seem to float amid the aqua-toned decor. Waves crash. My champagne bubbles fizz. Stress liquefies. This is a great place for a girls' afternoon.
Gossip is spilt as we scarf down olives, polenta chips and shrimp with lemon and aioli. The sun lowers. Surfers abandon the water. The beach empties out. But things are still swimming for us as we select another nip of something. We are almost at sea, and it feels rather nice.
