This renovated venue offer house tunes, sports coverage, pub grub and cocktails. Check the screens above the bar for flashing drink specials.
Despite its modern appearance (thanks to a recent makeover), Hotel LA has a rich history that dates all the way back to the 1870s. This place originally catered to soldiers from the army barracks nearby, but these days draws in university students from the 'burbs and cut-loose office workers.
On Friday and Saturday nights, the Baron Bar upstairs throbs to house beats delivered by resident and guest DJs. Guys flirt with glam girls in designer jeans and dance under disco balls. Others suck on ciggies on the roomy verandah, looking out over the people trundling down Caxton Street.
Cocktails are available and there's also Heineken, Becks and VB on tap. If in doubt over bargain booze prices, check out the screens above the bar which flash all sorts of drink deals, including cheap jugs.
Downstairs, more subdued crowds unwind over glasses of scotch in the refurbished Sports Bar. Some nip into the adjoining gaming room to try their luck on the pokies.
Other areas include the Basement Bar, which is decked out with sandstone, and Terrace Bar area, which suits private functions.
Nosh-wise, Hotel LA's restaurant serves up steak, babyback ribs and lamb cutlets.
