A fresh option on the South Melbourne scene, this friendly bar is finding fans fast.
Purpose-built for the creative kids of South Melbourne, this two-storey party house has become the venue of choice for everything from post-work cocktails to hens night shenanigans.
There's no dress code, no cover charge and the door is always open until closing time - they'll never sneak off early just because business slows down late on a quiet weeknight. In creating Honey, owner Steve Vallas wanted a bar that filled the void in the area, giving locals the perfect place to go, whether it be 2am on a Saturday night or midnight on a Monday. And given its self-proclaimed status as "a bar with food", it's also a decent nosh spot for those who don't mind digging into a solid gnocchi bolognaise or shareable bits such as grilled haloumi with peperonata and lemon.
The bar is well stocked with a handful of beers on tap and a good range of wine by the glass. The popular Passionista is hard to top from the cocktail menu, boasting a fruity mix of vanilla vodka, Cointreau, passionfruit and pink grapefruit juice.
Upstairs, guests gravitate to ottomans beneath large windows and nab spots on the balcony for people-watching and cocktail sipping in the breeze.
