As they say in real estate, it's all about location, location, location. And in Sydney, that can only mean one thing: the world-famous harbour. Sitting squarely in the middle of the tourist district, Helm Bar offers postcard views of this envied stretch of water. Even if you're not looking out to sea, you won't forget where you are, as timber decking and portholes give this place a thoroughly maritime feel.
Helm is a great place for meeting up with friends, as the open plan layout of the venue lends itself well to groups. Cocktail happy hours and meal deals will be a hit with those coming straight from work for a de-stress bevvy, and they'll also enjoy carafes of sangria or Pimms. During the warmer months, you can soak up the view outside at the Lower Deck bar, an outdoor beer garden that'll put you right in the thick of things.
Ended up in Helm Bar on Saturday night. I'd never been there before. The DJ was awesome, everyone was up dancing, it was going off. I will definitely be back.
