With a boisterous beer garden on Friday nights, and some top quality bar food on offer, this historic pub has been tastefully revamped.
From the street the historic Grace Darling Hotel's stained-glass windows may look a little dim in colour. But step inside, have a beer at the bar and look up as the sunlight catches the glass and the brightness is overwhelming - the whole room comes alive with bright flowery pinks and greens.
This rustic charmer dates back to 1854 and has been renovated tactfully to highlight period features, making it a beautiful little spot to get a taste of yesteryear with your beer. You can enjoy an icy James Squire (amber or pilsner) on tap or sample the great wine list if that's more your style. If you're not in the mood for the hotel's formal mod-Oz dinner experience to soak up the liquor, never fear. There's some quality casual bar food available to munch on.
The Friday night vibe at the Grace Darling is irresistible. Happy after-workers spill in to the bar and then out into the beer garden, which overlooks Smith Street and is every bit as colourful as the windows. The pub has a colourful past too, fuelling some of the formative days of the Collingwood Football Club.
