This pub offers chilled Cascade on tap, sports coverage and bistro nosh. Thrash or get thrashed playing some pool and then chow down on some surf and turf.
The Globe is a big pub that's great for just grabbing a beer, watching sports coverage and shooting some pool with locals.
Make no mistake - this place is by no means influenced by the recent wave of trendy gentrified pubs and hefty prices. Here, the restaurant is still called the bistro and it attracts a mixed group of backpackers, students and regulars who come to chow down on affordable 'surf and turf' meals.
Live cover bands perform from Thursdays to Sundays, and there's also a video jukebox on the premises.
You wouldn't say The Globe is rough. After all, it's friendly enough and there's plenty of blessed Cascade on tap. But don't expect to fail the dress regulations. At the risk of causing offence, this is a bit of a blokes' pub.
Look around and you'll be sure to find a quintessential pub larrikin in residence - you know, the one who seems to gravitate to the bar stool where he can best have a lend of you and call the bartender over for another beer.
"You're from
Home Beautiful I suppose?" one regular asks while I photograph the venue. I tell him I've been sent by
Australia's Most Wanted. It goes around the pub a few times to great guffawing. But the joke fit the pub, if you know what I mean. It's that type of place.
