Since opening its doors in late 2006, Teage Ezard's Gingerboy restaurant has lured diners with its modern and rather chic approach to Asian food. And the restaurant's bar holds much of the same attraction. While the wine list is more than adequate (with plenty of whites to complement the spicy dishes on offer), it's the cocktail list that gives Gingerboy its identity. Here, Asian flavours play an important part in a drinks menu that's fresh, unique and a little bit cheeky. The Coriander Cobbler is an exotic blend of Benedictine, Campari, sweet vermouth, coriander root, grapefruit and lime, while ordering Mr Miyagi's Dragon Fist Punch will give you more than just a giggle with its potent mix of Matusalem Classico Rum, Amaro Montenegro, pink grapefruit, pomegranate syrup, lime and Thai basil.
The bar being part of the restaurant has both its pros and cons: on the downside, it can be a bit noisy and crowded when the tables are full, but on the plus side there's no better place to grab a bar snack after a couple of those cocktails.
