Neutral Bay may not be the first place that comes to mind when seeking out a buzzing nightlife, but Firefly Tapas & Wine Bar are hoping to change that perception with their second outpost. Alongside its other restaurant in Walsh Bay, this funky tapas bar and restaurant's wine list is enough to excite any aficionado, with 25 wines available by the glass and more than 2000 bottles of wine in its cellar. A creative cocktail list also offers up concoctions such as Bitter and Twisted, a champagne cocktail charged with Campari, lychees and blood orange.
The decor is simple yet elegant: exposed brick walls, small tables and leather banquets make it an idea space for a small group, and the comfortable living room feel makes you want to stay for awhile. Dishes range from $7-$20 so you don't have to spend big to have a good night, with small plate treats, such as salt cod croquettes, chilli chicken chorizo and Firefly's specialty, zucchini frites with sumac, to line the stomach. The 8.5 metre-long bar is an ideal perch for watching the bar staff mix up a cocktail but things really heat up at night, with DJs spinning tunes and plenty of room to dance.
