Grab an icy beer and see and be seen in the beer garden. Look out for great live bands that may just turn a pub crawl into a one-stop all-nighter.
You'll find unpretentious drinking at its best at The Exeter Hotel, with its fun casual vibe keeping the punters coming back for more. The front bar, dining room, saloon bar and beer garden have played mute witness to a million real-life dramas over the years. You'd be hard pressed to find a single Adelaide resident who doesn't have a story to tell about a big night out at the Exeter, whether they were on a university pub crawl or seeing a mate's band play in the beer garden.
Keep an eye out for cheerful happy hour beer prices, and special curry nights on Wednesday and Thursdays, with more standard pub fare available daily to munch on for either lunch or dinner. Live bands get their gear on five nights a week, while DJs spin tracks on the other two, keeping the punters entertained. Close to several unis, drinkers are also drawn to the Exeter Hotel because it's virtually impossible to sit at the alfresco tables on Rundle Street for more than three minutes without at least half a dozen friends wandering by.
The food is fantastic. The beer tastes like someone has never washed the glasses. For some reason the beer just tastes horrible there. Either the glasses are not washed properly or how they are washed needs a rethink. The food is fantastic though but I would never drink there again. They need a proper sound system for live sound for a venue with great potential.
