There's no signage outside. Just a single red light over a factory door. This is Australia's first reservation-only bar, and there is no way in without your name on the list. Be sure to follow the rules. Remember, 'mobile phones may be seen but not heard' and 'if you must be loud, be intelligent'. Rules and reservations aside, this secretive hideout will seduce you with its eclectic decor, intimate booths and killer cocktails.
If your name's not down, you're not coming in but that's the attraction of 16 Ellis Street
It's exclusive, sumptuous, and opulent - the perfect venue to hold your extravagant event whether it's a birthday, wedding, or 'just because'. The best thing about this place is that there's no annoying trendy types (unless, of course, you invite them)so 'exclusivity' means exactly what you want it to mean and not what it normally means which is, 'You're not young, beautiful, or rich. So bugger off'.
The staff are attentive but not overbearing; they boast one of the best cocktail menus in the state; and the setting is 19th Century opium den meets the Moulin Rouge. Oh, and the food's pretty good too.
Do yourself a favour and get yourself on the invite list to an event at this place. You won't regret it but you will remember it for a long, long time.
